What you’ll learn

• How to measure your window accurately
• Calculating fabric quantities and allowing for pattern repeats
• Understanding rod pocket placement and dowel positioning
• Stitching Roman blinds neatly by hand
• Using the key hand-sewn stitches needed for a professional finish
• Corded blind construction 
• Mounting a blind onto a fabric-covered wooden batten
• Creating a lined and interlined Roman blind sample 60x100cm
• Working to current safety standards
• Gaining the confidence to make Roman blinds at home with comprehensive notes

Is this course for me? Suitable for students with a good knowledge of using a sewing machine and hand sewing skill are important.

About your Teacher: Chrissie Cardno owns an interior design and soft furnishings business called Portico Interiors in Surrey. She also specialises in antique painted furniture and has hosted workshops on paint techniques.

Venue: The workshop is held in our modern and vibrant studio at the Clothkits shop. We are located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.
