Chevron beads, also known as Star Beads or Rosetta, were invented in the late 1400s by Maria Varovelli on Murano Island, Italy. While Venetian beads often build upon ancient techniques, the Chevron method is uniquely Venetian. These beads can feature up to ten layers, with blue being the most common color. Red, green, and black Chevrons are rare and highly valued. The production of Chevron beads later expanded to the Netherlands. The term "Chevron" translates to "mountain shape," reflecting their distinctive design.
