Product Description: This strand features etched carnelian beads dating back to 2500-1800 BCE.
Period: 2500-1800 BCE
These etched carnelian beads originate from the Indus Valley Civilization. They feature patterns created using a natron solution derived from plants, which were then baked at low temperatures of around 300-400 degrees Celsius. While similar beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that those made in the Indus River region were transported via land and sea routes.
