The Indus Valley Civilization created these Carnelian beads by drawing patterns with natron, a solution derived from plants, and then baking them at low temperatures of about 300-400 degrees Celsius. While such beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that they were produced in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
