Check your original sensor during removal — if fasteners or seals are reusable, you're good. If they're damaged, have replacements on hand before starting. Most shops grab fresh gaskets as a matter of course.

Do I need to clear the check engine light before or after installation?

Install the new sensor first, then start the engine and let it cycle. The light should clear once the system recognizes the new sensor and runs through its self-check. If the light stays on after 50 miles of normal driving, scan for any remaining codes.

Can I reuse the connector from my old sensor?

Inspect the connector and pins on your old sensor before removal. If they're clean and undamaged, the connection should work fine. Corroded or bent pins mean sourcing a new connector harness — don't force it and risk a poor signal.
